I am missing the “L” shaped formatting (layout?) symbols in Microsoft Word as well as have no suggestion of just how to get them back. The screenshot that I discovered shows the missing parts in red circles:

SuperUser contributor Primoz has the solution for us:

Those are called Crop Marks as well as you can allow them via File > > Options > Advanced > > Show Crop Marks (in the Show Document Content section).

This is just as valuable if you occur to do not like the Crop Marks and also wish to conceal them.
