How to Automatically Create a Backup Copy of a Word Document When You Save it

Backing up your papers is always an advantage to do, yet not always something we keep in mind to do. Word can immediately produce a backup copy of your Word file every single time you save it and also we’ll reveal you just how to do this.

To have Word instantly save backup copies of your records, click the “File” tab.

On the backstage display, click “Options” in the checklist of things left wing.

On the “Word Options” dialog box, click “Advanced” in the list of products on the left.

When your file is little, conserving to disk is a rather fast procedure. However, as your record expands, or if you begin saving your paper to an external storage space device that’s not as quick as the interior hard drive, conserving the file can take quite a bit more time. To overcome this delay, Word enables you to conserve your file in the background so you can remain to work with the paper while it’s being saved. To activate this function, pick the “Allow history conserves” check box so there is a check mark in package.

KEEP IN MIND: An animated disk displays on the standing bar in Word while a document is being conserved. When the disk vanishes, the save is complete.

Click “ALRIGHT” to close the “Word Options” dialog box.

KEEP IN MIND: Before a backup duplicate is created, you must save your record more than once. The backup copy is saved in the same folder as the initial document. You can open it in Word as well as modify it as you would any “. doc” or “. docx” file.

The back-up of your Word paper is nothing more than a copy of the documents with “Backup of” prepended to the start of the documents and the data expansion transformed to “. wbk”. Only one backup duplicate of a record is maintained. When you save the document once more, the existing “. wbk” data is deleted, the present document is relabelled as the upgraded “. wbk” data, as well as the record is conserved again as a conventional Word file.

Having Word produce automatic backups of your records must NOT be made use of as a substitute for supporting your documents to external media or cloud storage (or both) on a regular basis.
